Download, Store and Unpack
When you press a button to download, you can - depending on the setting - select a directory or the file is saved in the "Download" folder, for example.
Select a directory or move this download to a directory to store the file temporarily.
You will receive a zip archive or a tarball: Three files are packed in it. You must unpack (unzip) this downloaded, compressed file.
Unpacking depends on your operating system:- Windows: Open the downloaded zip file in the Windows File Explorer, right-click and follow the instructions for extracting.
- Unix (Linux, BSD...): Open the downloaded tarball or zip file in your file manager. Often you have to right-click on the file for the unpack/extract/unzip) option to appear. If this does not work, then enter "tar -xvzf XXXXX.tar.gz" or "unzip XXXXX.zip" in the command line in the directory where the file is stored. Replace "XXXXX" with the name of the downloaded file.
- Mac: Double-click on the zipped file to unzip the files in the same folder the zipped file is in.
Update with the new version
Just replace the three files of your existing version with the ones from the download:
- file-lock-pea.jar / calendar.jar / contact.jar / notebook.jar / image-lock-pea.jar
- unix_start_helper.sh
- windows_start_helper.bat respectively the exe-file.
Do not touch any other files, especially the "resources" folder or the file with the extension ".path".
After that, the PEA should start as usual.
Subsequently Installed Languages
If you have installed languages at a later date, you can update them in the menu (Settings - Language - Update). If this does not work:
The language files are located either in a folder with the country code, for example en for English, or directly in the “resources” folder. You can recognize the respective language file by the extension that corresponds to the country code, for example PeaLanguageBundle.en for English.
Delete the relevant language files and reinstall the language in the PEA (Settings menu).
